HI, I'M EMILY!

I started my career in adult education, learning psychology, and design thinking facilitation. I was a founding member of the IDEO U educational arm of IDEO, making design thinking education accessible and scaleable. We built a suite of courses starting at 2, and scaling to 12 over 7 years.
I was a founding Experience Designer on the Lyft driver education team, building the driver education org. We created delightful micro-learning moments, and ultimately, created a robust in-product, consolidated learning center.
From there, I moved to Robinhood as a designer, where I worked to make investing accessible for everyone, building out in-product education for users of all levels of experience. We created everything from in-app, contextual tours, to comprehensive, module-based investing courses.

I transitioned to Brex as a Content Designer, building financial products to help accelerate the speed of business. While at Brex, I was promoted to a Design Manager, managing both product and content designers. My team was responsible for the entire end to end user experience communications loop, ranging from all external and in-product comms (think an in-product Inbox + actionable tasks, notifications, etc). I also built user research as a function across the Design org (and all of Brex). This includes both executing and leading user interviews, along with supporting designers in conducting their own research. (What a beautiful combo of both staying close to the customer and having a hand in internal education and designer development!)
After a massive company re-org, I transitioned to a Senior Product Designer role, where I owned the product design for our core spend experience product, managing the E2E experience and simplification of the product across surfaces like Credit and Banking. I was promoted to a Staff Product Designer where I took on more org-wide leadership across Design, Product, and Engineering.

When I'm not building human-centered products, you can likely find me rock climbing, playing the bagpipes, mountain biking, canyoneering, and fossil hunting.
